Belarus: Norms for equipping premises and facilities with primary fire fighting devices

As of 6 June 2018, facilities and organisations are required to equip their premises with primary fire fighting devices (fire extinguishers) in accordance with the adopted Norms.

The Norms were adopted by Decree No. 35 dated 18 May 2018 and set out requirements for different types of premises. For example, the requirements for building sites are set out in Annex 6 to the Decree, for public and administrative buildings – in Annex 2, for industrial and warehouse premises – in Annex 1, etc.

The number of fire extinguishers required on any type of premises always depends on the area size and on the particular fire hazard category of the premises. If industrial or warehouse premises are equipped with automatic fire fighting devices (sprinklers) only 50% of the required number of fire extinguishers are sufficient.

For industrial or warehouse premises belonging to fire and explosion category D (non-hazardous) where only non-combustible materials and substances are stored at cold temperature and with the area size not exceeding 100 square meters, no fire extinguishers are required to be installed.
