Ukraine: Adopted maximum concentration levels of veterinary medicines in food

As of 28 April 2020, manufacturers and importers of foods of animal origin in Ukraine have to ensure their products comply with the set concentration levels for active veterinary medicine components.

Maximum allowed concentration levels have been set for over 100 active substances, including amoxicillin, cyfluthrin, emamectin, netobimin, oxibendazole, paracetamol, permethrin, etc.

In addition, a list of veterinary medicines which have been prohibited for use and for which no concentration (residual) limits in food can be set, was adopted. This list includes carbadox, chloramphenicol, colchicine, ipronidazole, etc.

These limits have been set pursuant to the Law of Ukraine on the Main Principles and Requirements for Quality and Safety of Food.
