Ukraine has proposed draft Order that aims to create unified requirements for the production and circulation of natural mineral waters and spring water sold on the Ukrainian market.
The draft Order sets out:
- requirements for the treatment of natural mineral water;
- requirements applicable to premises, areas, equipment, technological equipment, storage and transportation of natural mineral water;
- additional specific markings for labelling of natural mineral water as defined by the Law of Ukraine "On Information for Consumers regarding Food Products”;
- requirements applicable to spring water.
Any natural mineral waters that meet the safety legislation requirements and the applicable food quality indicators that were in effect prior to the entry into force of the draft Order, but that do not meet the requirements of this Order, may be manufactured and/or placed on the Ukrainian market for three years after the draft Order enters into force and remain in circulation until the minimum shelf life or "use before" date expires.
