Uzbekistan: Adopted Technical Regulation on Non-Alcoholic Drinks

As of 2 December 2021, manufacturers and importers of non-alcoholic drinks and raw materials used for non-alcoholic drinks are required to comply with the adopted Technical Regulation (TR). 

Until the adopted TR enters into force, all existing standards and regulatory instruments applicable to non-alcoholic drinks are to be applied voluntary and are not binding.

The TR applies to soft drinks, raw materials and their components, processes of production, storage, transportation, sale and disposal. It does not apply to the production of beverages intended for babies and products exported from Uzbekistan. The list of non-alcoholic products to which the adopted TR applies is provided in the appendix to the Technical Regulations and consists of 20 types of soft drinks. The list includes fermented drinks, flavoured soft drinks, energy drinks, non-carbonated beverages, etc.

The following information must be indicated in the accompanying documents for soft drinks: the presence of: quality certificates, flavourings, aspartame (phenylalanine), energy value, etc. It is forbidden to indicate misleading information on the label.

Requirements for the maximum allowable concentrations of toxic elements and mycotoxins, radionuclides, microbiological and parasitological parameters in beverages are given in the relevant annexes to the Technical Regulations.
