Uzbekistan: Adopted Technical Regulation on Oils and Fats

As of 18 November 2020, organisations importing, or manufacturing oil and fat products in Uzbekistan are required to comply with revised requirements on the safety of oils and fats imposed by Uzbekistan Technical Regulation on the Safety of Oils and Fats.

It is important to note that all certificates and other compliance documents that have been obtained before the revised requirements entered into force, are to remain in force during their normal validity period.

The requirements of the Technical Regulation do not apply to fat and oil products produced in non-industrial environment, as well as to non-food fat and oil products, except for natural raw glycerine and laundry soap.

For various types of fat and oil products, including food, non-food, vegetable oils, the requirements are given in the annexes to the Technical Regulation.

The adopted TR contains requirements for labelling and safety of oils and fats as well as toxicity and other characteristics of oils and fats.

The adopted TR requires that all fats and oils manufacturers must develop, implement and comply with the HACCP principles and requirements. The wording of this requirement suggests that it applies to both foreign and domestic (Uzbekistan) manufacturers.
