Uzbekistan: regulation on the safety of mineral fertilisers

As of 2 March 2022, manufacturers and importers of mineral fertilisers are required to comply with the adopted Technical Regulation on the Safety of Mineral Fertilisers of Uzbekistan (the TR).

The adopted TR applies to mineral fertilizers produced or imported in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as their storage, transportation and libelling. The list of fertilises to which the TR applies is provided in Annex 1 to the Technical Regulation.

The list includes:

  • Nitrogen fertilizers;
  • Phosphorus fertilizers;
  • Potassium fertilizers;
  • Complex mineral fertilizers, which contain a number of essential nutrients, including macronutrients and trace elements; and
  • Micronutrient fertilisers (mineral fertilizers containing macro and micronutrients).

Before any mineral fertiliser can be placed on the market in Uzbekistan, they require a state registration certificate (except for sample mineral fertilizers imported for testing and registration purposes).

All fertilisers must be marked with the National Mark of Conformity of Uzbekistan.

Mineral fertilizers intended for sale in retail outlets must be packaged.

The TR further sets out requirements for labelling of mineral fertilisers and their safety requirements.
