EEU: Published draft amendment that aims to impose psychological and pedagogical assessment for toys

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has published a proposal to amend the EEU Technical Regulation on the Safety of Toys by imposing the requirement for all toys to undergo psychological and pedagogical assessment before any toy can be released on the EurAsian Economic Union market.

The purpose of the assessment would be to ensure that toys released on the market do not have any negative impact on the moral and psychological wellbeing of children. For example, the assessment would ensure that no toys provoke any aggressive actions on part of children, that they do not provoke any cruelty to game characters or game partners, that they do not invoke any unhealth interest to sexual issues or gambling, etc.
