EAEU: Content of methanol in coolants has been restricted

Manufacturers and importers of coolants in the EurAsian Economic Union will have to ensure that these coolants do not contain more than 0,05% of methanol in the finished product.

The amendment to Technical Regulation on Requirements for Lubricants, Oils and Special Liquids restricts the contents of methanol in coolants and requires the EAEU Governments to develop the relevant standard that would allow to measure whether a coolant complies with the above restriction.

The amendment is to enter into force six months after the mentioned standard is included into the list of standards containing sample taking and performance of tests and measurements required to ensure compliance with Technical Regulation on Requirements for Lubricants, Oils and Special Liquids, but no later than 1 January 2019.

Law: Amendment to Annex No. 1 to Technical Regulation of the Customs Union «On requirements for lubricants, oils and special liquids» (CU TR 030/2012), Decision No. 29 of the EurAsian Economic Commission Council of 3 March 2017
