The Increased Import Duties for Dairy Products May Become Permanent

The EurAsian Economic Commission has proposed to set increased import duties for some types of dairy products imported into the Customs Union, on a permanent basis.

Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan have increased import duties for butter, cottage cheese, some types of cheeses and other dairy products from 15% to 18,3%. These duties are to remain in force until 30 June 2013 (inclusive).

This measure has been introduced because of an increase in the volume of imported dairy products.
