24 New Customs Union Technical Regulations to be Developed and Adopted in 2013
As of 15 December 2012 goods for personal use, with the value not exceeding EUR 10,000 (previously – EUR 1,500) may be imported into the Customs Union duty-free, provided they are imported by air transport. No customs declaration should be filled in for all goods with the value not exceeding EUR 10,000 and the weight not exceeding 50 kg.
The Consulting Trade Committee of the EuroAsian Economic Commission approved the proposal made by Russia to set import customs duties as 0% for microprocessors manufactured by a technology of no more than 32 nanometers. This measure aims to increase competitiveness of computer and telecommunication equipment manufactured in the Customs Union and to increase the volume of the equipment manufactured in the CU.
Russia withdrew its proposal to prohibit the use of PET-packaging for beer beverages. The Federal Service of Alcohol Market Regulation has agreed to remove the prohibition to use PET bottles for beer from draft Technical Regulation on the Safety of Alcohol Products.
Two Customs Union Technical Regulations (CUTRs) setting out safety requirements for of alcohol and tobacco products were approved by the Consulting Committee of the EuroAsian Economic Commission. The approved documents will be submitted to the Customs Union member states for inter-state approval.
From 24 to 26 October 2012 the Department of Sanitary, Phytosanitary and Veterinary Measures of the Euro-Asian Economic Commission (EAEC) considered, at its working group meeting, the issues regarding the agreement on two-party veterinary certificates of the European Union and of the Customs Union. The meeting adopted an amendment to the Common Veterinary Requirements pertaining to products subject to the veterinary control (supervision).
