Uzbekistan: Mandatory identification labelling introduced for some products

Starting from 1 January 2021, Uzbekistan is implementing mandatory identification marking for certain groups of products.

The adopted Decree establishes how manufacturers and importers are responsible for the labelling of products subject to digital marking.

Annex I to the adopted Decree contains the list of product types for which mandatory digital marking will be required starting 2021-2022.

Mandatory digital identification marking is required for the following products:

  1. Tobacco Products – as of 1 January 2021;
  2. Alcoholic Beverages (except for beers) – as of 1 January 2021;
  3. Beer – as of 1 April 2021;
  4. Medicine and Medical Supplies (the date is to be confirmed separately);
  5. Water and Soft Drinks (the date is to be confirmed separately); and
  6. Household Appliances (the date is to be confirmed separately).

Annex 1 also lists the customs tariff codes of the products to which the requirement to have a digital identification mark is mandatory.

Annex 2 contains a roadmap for the regulatory changes that various regulatory bodies will have to implement in order to make this requirement workable and enforceable.
