The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council has decided to launch, in nine months, a mechanism for tracking goods imported into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This decision follows the successful completion of a pilot project that ran from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2025. A report by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) confirmed that all member states are ready for the full-scale implementation of the system.
At the initial stage, three groups of goods will be subject to permanent traceability:
-
household refrigerators and freezers (12 EAEU HS codes),
-
washing machines (6 codes),
-
television receiving equipment (16 codes).
The full list of product categories will be approved by the EEC Council by the end of 2025.
According to the EEC Minister for Economy and Financial Policy, the launch of the traceability mechanism marks an important step in the integration of EAEU markets. It will create transparent and fair conditions for businesses, ensure consumer protection, combat “grey” imports, and strengthen the region’s economic security. The EEC and the governments of member states also plan to expand the range of traceable goods and further develop the system in the near future.
