Ukraine: Revised version of RoHS Technical Regulation published

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the final text of the revised Technical Regulation on the Restriction of Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (the Ukrainian RoHS). The TR applies to all equipment listed in Annex 1 to the Technical Regulation. The list of equipment includes all office equipment, telecom equipment, domestic electronic devices, lighting equipment, etc.  Notably, batteries and accumulators (so-called “chemical sources of electricity”) used in electrical and electronic equipment are excluded from the scope of the adopted Technical Regulation.

The TR restricts the content of certain hazardous chemicals in EEE. The restricted chemicals include lead, cadmium, PBDE, hexavalent chromium, etc.

The Technical Regulation has been developed on the basis of the EU Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS-2).

The Technical Regulation enters into force in 6 months after the date of its official publication.
