Ukraine: Technical Regulation on energy labelling of household ovens and cooker hoods

As of 12 December 2018, manufacturers and importers of household ovens and cooker hoods (extractors) are required to comply with the adopted Technical Regulation on energy efficiency labelling.

All cooker hoods and ovens placed on the Ukrainian market before 12 December 2018 that do not comply with the requirements of the adopted Technical Regulation, may remain on the market until 12 June 2019.

The adopted Technical Regulation applies to electrical and gas ovens (including those built into cookers) and electrical cooker hoods, including those for non-domestic purposes.

The following products are excluded from the scope of the adopted TR:

  • ovens using sources of energy other than electricity and gas;
  • ovens with "microwave heating" function;
  • small ovens;
  • portable ovens;
  • heat storage (accumulating) ovens;
  • ovens, the primary heating source of which is steam; and
  • ovens operating on propane and butane only.

The supplier (manufacturer) must provide to the distributor, together with the product, a microfiche and an energy efficiency label.  The information on the label and microfiche must be in Ukrainian.

Any energy label for ovens must contain the following information:

  • name or trademark of the supplier (manufacturer);
  • oven model code consisting of letters and digits and allowing to distinguish a particular oven model from other oven models from the same supplier;
  • energy source used by the oven;
  • energy efficiency class;
  • the useful volume of the chamber of the oven in litres, rounded to the nearest integer number;
  • energy consumption per cycle (consumption of electric energy or gas) for heating (in the normal mode and in the presence of forced convection) the chamber during standard loading, which is determined according to the test procedures, rounded to the second decimal point, kWh / cycle or MJ / cycle.

Any energy label for cooker hoods must contain the following information:

  • name or trademark of the manufacturer (supplier);
  • cooker hood model code consisting of letters and digits and allowing to distinguish a particular cooker hood model from other models from the same supplier;
  • energy efficiency class of the cooker hood;
  • yearly energy consumption volume (rounded to the nearest integer, in kWt/hour);
  • gas-dynamic efficiency class;
  • lighting efficiency class;
  • grease filter efficiency class; and
  • noise level.

The Technical Regulation also imposes requirements for the information that must be contained in microfiches for ovens and cooker hoods. One microfiche can contain information on several oven or cooker hood models by the same supplier (manufacturer).
