Uzbekistan: Introduces mandatory digital labelling of water and soft drinks

Manufacturers and importers of packaged drinking water and soft drinks (including juices) are to be required to apply mandatory digital labelling on these products in accordance with the adopted Resolution.

The requirement to mark water and drinks with mandatory digital marking is to be introduced in stages. The procedure for mandatory digital marking of water and soft drinks through means of identification will be gradually introduced during 2023-2024

It is intended that the mandatory marking should be introduced as follows:

-         the first group — unfermented fruit juices (except grape juice) and vegetable juices, not fermented and not containing alcohol, with or without added sugar or other sweeteners, as well as carbonated and non-carbonated waters and drinks — from July 1, 2023;

-         the second group —water and soft drinks in aluminium containers — from August 1, 2024.

The following products are to be subject to the mandatory digital identification marking:

-         Fruit juices (except grape juice) and vegetable juices, unfermented and not containing alcohol, whether or not they contain added sugar or other sweeteners, as well as carbonated and non-carbonated waters and beverages (customs tariff codes 2009, 2201 and 2202)

-         Water and soft drinks in metal, including aluminium containers (customs tariff codes 2201 and 2202)
