Electrical and electronic equipment

The revised Ukrainian Technical Regulation on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment enters into force on 22 September 2017. It is therefore important for all EEE manufacturers and importers to ensure that they are fully ready to comply with the new requirements imposed by the "Ukrainian RoHS". The revised Ukrainian RoHS was developed in line with the EU RoHS recast provisions subject to certain deviations.

Transitional period

The proposed draft Decree would add several types of products and packaging to the list of products and packaging subject to the extended producer responsibility (EPR). In particular, draft Decree would add the following types of products and packaging to the list:

Starting from 1 April 2018 all manufacturers and importers of radio equipment in Ukraine are required to comply with the adopted Technical Regulation (TR) on the safety of radio electronic equipment, subject to the set transitional period. The adopted TR is in line with the European Directive 2014/53/EU relating to the making available on the market of radio equipment.

As of 14 December 2017 manufacturers and importers of vacuum cleaners have to ensure such vacuum cleaners have energy labels before being placed on the Ukrainian market, according to the adopted Technical Regulation on Energy Efficiency of Vacuum Cleaners (TR).

Draft law on waste electric and electronic equipment was published on 24 May 2017.

If the law (WEEE Law) is adopted by the Parliament (expected in 2017), it would affect manufacturers and distributors of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE).
