Moldova restricts hazardous substances in electrical equipment

The Government of the Republic of Moldova adopted Decision No. 643 (October 1, 2025) approving the Technical Regulation on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (Moldova RoHS).

The regulation aligns national legislation with EU Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS Directive), as amended by Delegated Directive (EU) 2024/1416.

It was published in the Official Monitor on October 10, 2025 (No. 526–528, Article 675).

EAEU to Launch Import Traceability Mechanism

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council has decided to launch, in nine months, a mechanism for tracking goods imported into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This decision follows the successful completion of a pilot project that ran from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2025. A report by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) confirmed that all member states are ready for the full-scale implementation of the system.

Georgia: Energy Labelling for Heaters and Solar Panels

As of 31 December 2025, manufacturers and importers of heaters and solar panels are required to comply with a revised Technical Regulation that sets out energy labelling requirements for these products.

In particular, the revised Technical Regulation applies to:

  • space heaters,
  • combined heater space heaters,
  • temperature controllers and solar panel sets.

The revised Technical Regulation does not apply to heaters that:

Moldova: Adopted ecodesign requirements for space heaters and combination heaters

As of 2 June 2023, space heaters and combination heaters placed on the market in Moldova are required to comply with the adopted ecodesign requirements.

The adopted requirements are in line with the EU Commission Regulation No. 813/2013 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for space heaters and combination heaters. The are also partly in line with the EU Council Directive 92/42/EEC.
